Murder of A Prom Queen

The Association of Women in Forensic Science, Inc. (AWIFS) collaborated with The Garden of Eden Productions, Inc. (GOEP) and The Soup Factory to host an interactive murder mystery event titled “Murder of a Prom Queen.” This event, spearheaded by Celebrity Stylist Charles Gregory and promoted by Project STEAM TV, aimed to raise awareness about violent crimes in Philadelphia. By combining real forensic activities, demonstrated by professionals, with performing arts, participants were given a hands-on experience to solve a mock crime. The initiative's proceeds are dedicated to funding after-school programs that expose youth to forensics, performing arts, and broader STEAM subjects.

About Project S.T.E.A.M.

Our Vision

At Project S.T.E.A.M., we envision a future where every child, irrespective of background or circumstance, is equipped with the knowledge, skills, and passion to thrive in the S.T.E.A.M. domains. We see a world where art and technology are not just integrated but are interwoven, catalyzing innovation and creativity. We aim to be a beacon for the Philadelphia community and beyond, inspiring a new generation of thinkers, makers, and doers, all driven by the spirit of discovery.

Our Approach

At Project S.T.E.A.M., we envision a future where every child, irrespective of background or circumstance, is equipped with the knowledge, skills, and passion to thrive in the S.T.E.A.M. domains. We see a world where art and technology are not just integrated but are interwoven, catalyzing innovation and creativity. We aim to be a beacon for the Philadelphia community and beyond, inspiring a new generation of thinkers, makers, and doers, all driven by the spirit of discovery.

APPROACH TO LEARNING:

Holistic Integration: At Project S.T.E.A.M., learning is not compartmentalized. Science doesn’t stand alone from Technology, nor Art from Engineering. Our programs are designed to offer interconnected experiences, where one domain informs and amplifies the other.

Hands-on Experience: We believe in the power of doing. Our learners are encouraged to experiment, create, fail, and iterate, ensuring they grasp not just theoretical knowledge, but also practical application.

Media Literacy: In today's digital age, information is abundant but not always accurate. Our approach emphasizes media literacy, teaching students to critically evaluate and responsibly engage with media, including the burgeoning fields of Web 3.0, the Metaverse, and NFTs.

Inclusive Environment: Every child brings a unique perspective, and we celebrate this diversity. Our learning spaces are inclusive, ensuring that every voice is heard and every idea is valued.

Future-focused: With the rapid evolution of technology and society, we ensure that our curriculum stays updated, incorporating the latest trends and technologies, preparing our students for the jobs of tomorrow, many of which might not even exist today.

Community Collaboration:

Founded by Charles Gregory, we've built strong ties with leading experts and innovators. Our students benefit from these partnerships, gaining insights, mentorship, and opportunities beyond the classroom walls.

With this approach, we're not just imparting knowledge; we're igniting passion, fostering creativity, and building a foundation for lifelong learning

Our Accomplishments

Project S.T.E.A.M. received a distinguished recognition with a citation from Philadelphia Councilwoman Blondel Reynolds Brown, highlighting the organization's exceptional contributions to the community
